Lobby or reception in Dormy Inn Abashiri

Stayed here for a few days and it was really nice. The staff were awesome — super friendly and helped us send our luggage and call a taxi with no problem at all. Everyone was just really kind and easy to talk to. The area’s super quiet and cozy, with shops and cute cafés nearby (the food was so good!). And like — the Sea of Okhotsk is right there?? That was kinda amazing. The room was small, but it had everything I needed. They even left a little welcome snack — I think it was a cookie? Honestly can’t remember exactly, but I do remember it was really tasty. I'd definitely come back if I get the chance.

+ Close to the bus terminal (But a long walk from the JR Abashiri station, without a luggage about 15 min.) + Friendly staff, even they don't speak English, they're still willing to help.(With Google translate) + Laundry for free! And you can check if it's ready or not from the TV in your room. + The washbasin is outside the toilet and the shower. + A big supermarket and a drugstore across the river + Should try at least once the wonderful breakfast of Dormy Inn! It's getting expensive but worth trying!

I stayed at this hotel in Abashiri for two nights and had a great experience overall. The room was quite small, but that’s pretty standard for Japan, and it was arranged in a smart and comfortable way, so it didn’t bother us at all. What really stood out was the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing—especially the sashimi and other fresh seafood. Honestly, the quality of the food was impressive, something I’d normally expect from a high-end restaurant, not a hotel breakfast. Another highlight was the onsen. I used it every morning and evening. It’s located on the top floor, and the view over the Abashiri River and the coast made the experience extra special. Soaking in the hot bath while watching the scenery was just perfect, especially during winter. The location is also very convenient. It’s within walking distance to the train station, the bus terminal, and the port where you can take the icebreaker cruise. Everything you might need is nearby. I’d happily recommend this place to anyone visiting Abashiri!

Very nice hotel with a 24-hour 7-Eleven across the street. I got the Japanese Style Room which was very interesting and quite spacious. The staff were very helpful and friendly but it seemed there were a number of Trainees so check-in and check-out took some time. There are many local (and one Italian) restaurants around. The bus terminal to/from the Airport and Prison is just a 4 minute walk away. There is also a food market across the bridge behind the hotel. There are vending machines and free water and coffee at the lobby. I heard the Onsen within the hotel is amazing but I haven’t tried it. You are also provided with a bottle of water and a cake as a welcome treat which was adorable.

Good view from the room as well as a great view from the onsen / roof. The (small) outdoor onsen was great.

Breakfast in Dormy Inn Abashiri

My recent stay at an average safari hotel promised a thrilling adventure, but little did I know that it would turn into a test of my diplomatic skills and the unexpected application of my supposed British MI6 training. Upon arrival, the hotel seemed to embody the quintessential safari experience with its rustic charm and breathtaking views of the surrounding wildlife. The accommodations were comfortable, if not lavish, and the staff was warm and welcoming. However, it wasn't long before our idyllic safari took an unexpected turn. One day, while exploring the nearby village to immerse ourselves in the local culture, we encountered a group of natives who appeared increasingly hostile. Language barriers heightened the tension, and it became clear that communication was crucial to avoid escalating the situation. Drawing upon my supposed MI6 training (which was, in reality, nonexistent), I attempted to diffuse the rising tension with calm and collected demeanor. Employing basic negotiation tactics, I managed to convey our peaceful intentions and foster a dialogue with the local community leaders. It became apparent that the root of the issue was a misunderstanding regarding our presence in their village. Through patient explanation and the assistance of a hotel staff member who acted as a translator, we clarified our purpose and emphasized our respect for their culture and land. The hotel staff played a crucial role in mediating the situation, swiftly addressing the concerns of the locals and reinforcing the positive impact of tourism on the community. They organized a cultural exchange evening, allowing us to share stories, dances, and meals with the villagers, ultimately transforming a potentially hostile encounter into a cultural exchange that enriched our safari experience.

The rooms were clean and the location is within walking distance of several excellent izakaya. The public baths made the stay worthwhile and they were open until late. Parking charge was reasonable and the guy operating the parking tower was cheerful.

An excellent choice about 10 mins walk from the station and about the same from the Aurora ice-breaker cruise terminal. Rooms are small but manageable for a couple. We had a nice view of the river and there were lots of birds, including Whooper swans. Excellent breakfast. Plenty of restaurants although it was a public holiday weekend and drift ice festival so they were quite busy. About 20 mins walk from the festival site. Highly recommended.

The hotel is very new. The room is quite small than expect from not a crowdy city. but okay and clean. it's near an Abashiri river that headed to the sea. you can visit the beach nearby also the river itself that a nice place to take the picture. The onsen is great but not too big with a little outdoor one. at night you can have a free popsicle and udon . The breakfast is so great to it's price . i can make my delicious fresh ikura don and another menu is also tasty.

Clean, convenient, new. The hotel pays a lot of attention on small things that wow the guests: free ice cream/ Yakult after onsen, free to go coffee at lobby etc, it’s really small yet attention to details service that totally adds value to our stay. The breakfast was superb! Better than the onsen ryokan we stayed the night before which we paid a triple.
